Sean McGervey
Weaver of Memory, Magic, and Myth

About the Author
Sean McGervey is an engineer, professor, and lifelong storyteller based in Maryland. When he’s not teaching systems engineering at Johns Hopkins or revising manuscripts late at night with a mug of jasmine tea, he spends his free time taking care of his parents and preventing world-ending calamities with his friends... via weekly Dungeons & Dragons campaigns, of course.Whether guiding students through complex systems or crafting fantastical worlds filled with memory, myth, and quiet hope, Sean brings the same thoughtful precision and emotional depth to every story he tells. Remembered Forward is his debut novel—an emotionally resonant, lyrical journey through sacrifice, becoming, and the threads that connect us—a standalone first novel in The Song of the Stitch of Four series.
Beyond the Page
Writing, memory, and the stories we remember forward
Sean recently appeared on Victoria Todria’s YouTube writing series, Struggle is Real, for a live ten-minute writing session and conversation about point of view, memory, grief, and the emotional roots of Remembered Forward. In the episode, he discusses the real-life moment that helped inspire the novel:
bringing an old board game to his father, only to realize his father no longer remembered
the game they had once regularly played together as a cherished father-son activity.
A brief clip about writing through his father’s struggle with memory loss
and the power of story to help him process grief and remember his dad forward.

Remembered Forward
Inspired in part by Sean’s experience caring for a parent with memory loss, Remembered Forward explores
the fragile power of memory, the ache of preservation, and the love required to carry stories onward.

📜Caeli’s D&D Character Sheet
Before she journeyed to Aurasterra, Caeli walked a different thread through D&D's Forgotten Realms—a path still unfolding through live storytelling. This is where her story began: a tarot-reading stargazer with secrets written in the sky.She was first introduced at the game table through a live in-character tarot reading for a mysterious hooded figure, revealed to be her future self. In the background of her sheet, you may even glimpse The Raven—a silent blessing from Velessa, the goddess of memory and becoming. This version of Caeli—played in an ongoing D&D campaign—still searches, still believes, still remembers forward.📖 The Little Star Who Stayed
